Twitcher: Baby Mynah

It was a month of July. I was doing some work in my cabin. I heard chirping of a bird. It was closer but not usual, so I tried to find out from where it was coming. The view from my cabin's window is pretty clear. There are tall Neem trees and Ashoka trees in the campus. I am able to see four to five of them. I scanned the branches, but there was nothing. Suddenly, I found something small was there under one of the car in the parking and a crow was hopping around it to grab it. Looking with detailed eye, I immediately understood that it was a baby bird for which this predator was wandering. I stood up quickly, called office assistant and we both ran there to rescue it. It was a baby of Mynah. It was very scared. Carefully, we took away the baby and kept it in the wooden box near my window to hide it from crow. We were successful in hiding it from crow, but at the same time we hid it from its mother too!😟 She was very restless, tried to search the baby under the car, from where it was taken away. But we were helpless. Other colleagues were also looking after it. For two to three hours we were successful in hiding it from crow, but then after relaxing, the baby mynah started moving out of the box. Crow spotted it and again was trying to grab it. But failed due to protection given by us. Still mother was in search. We thought she will not be able to find it, but to our surprize after few hours she succeeded. Both male and female mynah came near to their baby. They sat for a while, but then flew away😨. To our surprise they didn't return. It was late evening. All were leaving from office. I was worried for this baby, so had to call bird rescuer for help. At last they came and took it to the rescue center. After this, for next few days, mother used to search her baby under the car at the same location. I felt pity for her, but was helpless😞.
